Early orthodontic treatment is highly beneficial for those who need it. We can assess a child’s teeth and identify any growth problems at this early stage to save a great deal of time and money later in their teenage years.

What is early orthodontic treatment?

Early treatment serves as both preventive and interceptive care for children whose jaws are still developing. By initiating treatment at an early stage, we can often reduce the duration of orthodontic treatment later on—or even eliminate the need for it entirely.

What will happen at my child’s appointment?

When you bring your child in for a consultation at Modern Orthodontics, our Specialist Orthodontists will look at their:

Jaw development
Airway
Arch size
Tongue posture and positioning
Jaw posture
Tooth placement
Head/neck

They are looking to see if any of the above exhibit abnormalities. In some instances, we may recommend immediate treatment, but it is more common for us to monitor these abnormalities and then fit an appliance at a suitable time in the future.
